Engineering Director - Mission Systems
Director role that manages a multi-disciplinary engineering organization. The department is chartered to develop cutting-edge, integrated missionized systems within Missions Systems.
Direct multi-disciplinary organization of systems, software, hardware and project engineers in the development of missionized systems
Coach and develop direct staff of engineering managers and program chiefs
Manage long term staffing forecast and plan to support multiple business portfolios
Oversee department talent acquisition, retention and succession planning for key roles
Set department vision and goals to support broader business and organizational strategy
Serve as engineering focal to program management and business development leaders
Build and maintain customer relationships to engage on emerging issues and develop future opportunities
Consistently produce superior results, keeping projects on schedule and contributing to a positive work environment
Ensure compliance with Collins Management System, in particular approve and review department bids and proposals
Must Have Requirements:
Currently holds active U.S. DoD Security Clearance
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline; identified skills and experience
Ability to communicate technical issues, risks, and status in both written and oral forms
Must display strong organizational leadership competencies (e.g., mentoring, conflict resolution, program management, strategic planning).
Experience with risk and opportunity management, including interface with program management team and external customer
Experience with standard systems development practices and configuration management tools
Minimum of 2-5 years of experience leading a multi-disciplinary organization of systems, software, hardware or project engineers
Proficient in Earned Value Management
Excel working in a team environment, establishing collaborative relationships with co-workers
Minimum of 10% travel will be required
Advanced degree desired
Experience leading projects in an Agile Development Model
