Role Overview

This position is a widely recognized senior IT professional who identifies and defines IT needs and recommends how to implement systems and ensure compliance with defined standards. Oversees IT vendor relationships, develops configuration tools, and oversees procedures used to manage software use.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the architecture journey for our Engineering design and development environment spanning Software, Hardware, and Systems engineering. The role will encompass engineering tools and processes, and their integration within our global digital technology landscape. Major application areas include Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), and Electronic Design Management (EDM). The successful candidate will work closely with peer architects, digital technology service owners, business leaders and product managers to ensure we architect for today, focusing on redefining and bridging to our future.

  • Develop a unified, enterprise-level strategy that encompasses modernization techniques, including cloud hosting/migrations, portfolio rationalization and redefining process & system approaches.

  • Create and Articulate future state architecture via a Narrative document, complemented by a detailed Strategy, which contains all of the relevant Architecture & Design artifacts enabling the business strategy delivering value our customers will recognize. Additionally, it is expected that the proposed Future State Architecture would be validated proofs-of-concepts / MVP’s.

  • A detailed Collaboration Execution Plan developed & reviewed with the respective to digital enterprise systems regarding the evolution from the Current to Future State architectures.

  • Manage and Collaborate with all other Solution Architects and peers in security and technical architecture, with respect to the refinement & evolution of the Customer relationship management Solutions Architecture Processes & Practices, leveraging Togaf and Zachman frameworks

  • Continuous "outside-in" scanning, so as to facilitate continuous learning, hands-on understanding, & adoption of Solutions Architecture industry standard methodologies & techniques.

  • Delivery of business outcomes

  • Drive target project architecture for various solutions in Collins Aerospace

  • Partnering with product management, develop prototypes and spearhead solutions in MVP, iterative approach

  • Work with multiple squads using Agile/Scrum methodologies

  • Provide technical expertise as requested by members of various scrum teams

  • Act as the architecture partner for our Customer Relationship Digital application team

  • Creation of the business digital strategy as it relates to domain areas assigned

  • Assist in the Creation of Architecture guidelines and frameworks

  • Assist in the development of our future architects


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven track record as a Solution Architect or Technical Lead, crafting new solutions and delivering business outcomes

  • Demonstrated experience of delivering business process change

  • Desire/ability to learn and implement new technologies

  • Experience with Agile development methodology

  • Background with multiple enterprise technologies, especially CRM technologies

  • Experience of architecting a Salesforce environment

  • Specific knowledge of CRM Technologies Salesforce and MS Dynamics

  • Experience in all aspects of Architecture Design (People, processes & technology)

  • Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages

  • Show an understanding and consistent record for cloud based solutions, continuous integration/deployment

  • Exposure in Cloud-based (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.) Architecture

  • Experience with front-end UI technologies would be helpful

  • Heightened awareness, experience or passion in continued process improvement

  • Ability to work in a dynamic, highly matrix environment to achieve group goals

  • Proven Architecture ability

  • Dream and aptitude for learning new business areas and technologies

  • Advocacy of Solution Architecture across the organization

  • Previous experience using business requirements to develop solution designs and define architectural strategies and solutions

  • Willingness to partner effectively with your technology business partners

  • Dedication to sharing knowledge and providing mentorship

  • Equal knowledge of Business Solutions (ERPs, Line of Business Applications) and modern micro services, API and web architecture

Basic Qualifications:

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 10 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 7 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required.
