The Mission Systems Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) Hardware Engineering design team at Collins Aerospace is looking for a Senior RF Design Engineer to join our staff. This team ensures alignment of PNT products and programs with our key customer market segments while maximizing company and customer funding efficiencies through a product line approach. This position will be responsible to support RF hardware designs and RF hardware architectures for all PNT products.
The PNT Hardware Engineering team is focused on the development of the next generation military GPS based hardware products as well as maintaining legacy hardware product lines. This development is done for the full life cycle of the product (requirements/design through factory transition and sustainment) and will also utilize new product introduction processes. Additionally, the development will utilize a hardware product line approach to achieve optimal component and circuit card reuse across all hardware products.
Provide technical support for RF hardware architecture and design and trade study development for PNT applications
Contribute to engineering program pursuits and bid estimates
Contribute to hardware engineering requirements capture and analysis in area of domain expertise
Design, test, analyze, integrate, qualify and document hardware of moderate to high complexity
Work closely with other engineering disciplines (ie mechanical, software and systems engineering) to ensure the electrical design is appropriate for the project/product design approach
Work with mechanical engineers to ensure proper packaging of systems
Participate in cross-functional team efforts in integration, pre-qualification and qualification for products and sub-systems of moderate to high complexity
Conduct root-cause-analysis and technical investigations for software/hardware designs.
Provide engineering assistance to production, service, and repair personnel
Possess excellent communication skills, including the ability to write technical material and present to customers and mid-level managers
Able to work and communicate with representatives from various departments including Business Development, Finance, and Operations
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
Experience in some or all aspects of RF hardware development life cycle including requirements capture and verification, design and development, sub-level and system level integration and testing
Circuit board design experience including experience with schematic capture tools and PCB layout supervision and guidance to board designers
Be capable of hands-on troubleshooting using engineering lab equipment
Ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner and produce detailed, clear and concise technical documentation
Working knowledge of EM/circuit simulation tools like Keysight ADS and or AWR Microwave Office is desired
Be self-directed, able to meet cost, schedule, and performance objectives with minimal oversight
Familiar with passive and active antenna testing and analysis
Experience with military aerospace testing standards is desired
Must have a Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline.
In addition to a Bachelors in a STEM degree, 5 years of relevant experience is required, or an Advanced degree in a STEM degree and 3 years or relevant experience is required. In the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.
US Citizenship is required for this position. Must be capable of obtaining a U.S. DoD Secret security clearance.
