Primary Responsibilities

  • Drive business growth and develop new business, strategic partnerships for the enterprise including: current OEM customers, but particularly new products, markets and customers.

  • Lead and coordinate multi-disciplined teams to develop competitive, high quality and timely delivery of customer business proposals.

  • Work with R&D and the advance engineering team to identify and prioritize technology innovations and new adjacent opportunities and applications.

  • Help build business models and programs that achieve Aerostructures business goals, including OEM and aftermarket pricing, revenue and cost elements..

  • Drive portfolio assessment initiatives / gap strategy (i.e., liaison with contracts, M&A, finance, aftermarket) and gap closure plans.

  • Create and present business strategy plans, recommendations and justifications to executive leadership.

  • Ensure that Aerostructures capabilities are effectively marketed to our target customers in accordance with UTC Aerospace System’s high standards.

  • Evaluate contract terms, create negotiation plans and conduct negotiations with potential customers.

  • Work with program management team to understand and manage the ongoing commercial relationships with each OEM including reporting, analysis, contract re-negotiations and business growth strategies.

  • Plan for and attend trade shows, research market opportunities, understand competitor’s strategies, and provide market intelligence to each P&L leader.

  • Assist as required in the development of direct airline sales opportunities, Including financial business cases, sales approaches, commercial terms and pricing that optimize financial returns

  • Work with aftermarket to define and develop upgrades and modification opportunities.

  • Travel to customer locations to identify needs, present proposals and develop business opportunities that create mutual value.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of relevant experience OR

  • Advance degree and 5 years of relevant experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 11 years of relevant experience is required

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

  • Travel up to 30% of the time

  • Experience working in an Aerospace/Aviation engineering role

  • Proven track record in new business development

  • Knowledge of the Aerospace industry

  • Experience in negotiating tough situations with both internal and external groups, can win concessions without damaging relationships

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions

  • Financial understanding of costs and pricing and ability to estimate/calculate

  • Ability to generate professional oral and written communication and communicate with customers and all level of the organization

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to typical Business Development Manager attributes, the successful candidate will likely have some or all of following attributes and experience:

  • Worked in businesses or business units outside of Collins Aerospace or the Aerostructures Business Unit.

  • Aerospace experience working on non-propulsion related aerostructures products, preferably for both commercial and military applications.

  • An engineering background/qualification with demonstrated experience of product innovation including, but not limited to aerospace.

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills with a strong ability to advocate for customers and their needs.

  • Ability to research and mine data from various sources to fill knowledge gaps in our product strategies.

  • Stays up-to-date with new aerospace technologies, products and trends, including customer needs, competitor activities and collaboration strategies.
