We are looking for a Senior Stress Engineer, Aftermarket with knowledge and developed technical expertise in stress analysis of aircraft structural components. You will analyze and approve repairs and provide technical solutions to minimize aircraft downtime on all Collins Aerostructures commercial nacelle hardware that are compliant with certified type design and airworthiness (FAA/EASA) requirements. You will work independently, provide technical guidance to junior engineers, make recommendations to management and work on standardization to improve turnaround times.
Perform repair stress analysis and develop analytical methods for complex technical issues requiring creativity and ingenuity in supporting airline operational requirements, formal certification reports, and design changes.
Should be able to make quick engineering judgments and perform margin explorations for repair solutions based on certification analysis, on various nacelle components for different programs
Apply advanced structural analysis principles to support repair design development on metallic and composite structures.
Prepare RAS/8110-3 documents including substantiating analysis and obtain/coordinate sign-off with Airworthiness organization.
Prepare analysis package to support SRM/CMM repair development for submission to the Type Certificate holder.
Direct communication with Airline customers for rapidly development and approval of technical solutions.
Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience OR
Advance degree and 3 years of relevant experience OR
In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
Thorough understanding of load path, load balance, free body diagram and experience in classical hand analysis methods used in Aerospace structural analysis
Demonstrates knowledge in technical understanding of maintenance, repair, overhaul, and regulatory requirements in the commercial aircraft industry.
Ability to communicate well with internal and external customers and be driven to achieve customer satisfaction.
Ability to serve as the key point of contact for internal and external customers on complex technical issues.
Must be willing to mentor other engineers and lead teams in the generation of standard work for repair development.
Ability to work with all levels of maintenance, engineering, and management personnel.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment with time-constraint handling multiple repair tasks
Possess excellent technical writing and PC skills.
MS Office Suite experience Excel and Word
Must be able to travel up to 5% domestically and internationally
Experience in MRB and MRO repairs
Knowledge in Automation (Excel VBA & Visual Basic applications)
Experience with Patran/Nastran (Sol 101, 106, 111)
Experience in development of aircraft metallic and/or composite nacelle and exhaust structures.
Detailed understanding of nacelle systems desirable
