Internationally recognized technical expert in the field, who represents the organization externally in research and science institutions and organizations.
Oversees talent management and development within the function.
Serves as liaison with executives and various stakeholders on the organization’s research and development strategies.
Advises the business on technology related issues and engages in medium-term planning to set goals and priorities.
Plans, designs, and conducts research projects according to established scientific methods, principles, and theories to solve problems in order to improve or generate new products, components, equipment, systems, and processes.
Directs intellectual property evaluations and development of patent applications to relate to new or changed products and technologies.
May coordinate interdepartmental activities and research efforts to ensure collaboration within and across teams to solve problems and achieve project/organizational objectives.
Mentors senior level engineers and helps solve the most complex issues to enhance the capabilities of the team.
Anticipates the costs, resources, and time required to implement the organization’s annual research and development goals and monitors the performance of research projects to ensure targets are met.
Conducts technology, product, and program research.
Prepares and completes experimental and developmental research engineering.
May relate to new or changed products and technologies.
Analyzes projects to develop changes to programs and processes to increase efficiency.
Evaluates new approaches to meet project objectives.
Bachelor’s degree and 15 years of relevant experience OR
Advance degree and 12 years of relevant experience OR
In absence of a degree, 19 years of relevant experience is required
