We have an immediate need for an Engineer II in Edison, NJ. The candidate should have 5+ years in building systems commissioning with strong knowledge of building MEP (mechanical / electrical / plumbing) systems with emphasis in electrical distribution. The candidate needs to have a thorough understanding of the commissioning process and building MEP systems including the following:
Hot water and chilled water systems
Steam distribution systems
Air distribution systems
Building Automation Systems and HVAC controls
Emergency power systems
Candidate will be responsible for working independently, as well as in a group environment on and off construction sites.
Candidate will be required to perform design and submittal reviews, develop Commissioning checklists, inspect equipment installations, conduct functional performance tests of the MEP systems; and ability to troubleshoot system deficiencies and offer engineering solutions. Travel within the tri state area is typical, with national travel < 20%.
Desired Skills and Requirements
Experience in the commissioning of electrical distribution systems. Including medium voltage equipment and emergency power systems.
Knowledge and experience with commissioning commercial building HVAC systems.
Knowledge and familiarity of NETA acceptance testing practices and methods.
Develop commissioning plans and commissioning specifications
Perform design reviews of electrical and mechanical design drawings.
Ability to confidently read single line electrical drawings and control schematics.
Ability and knowledge to review equipment submittals.
Develop test procedures and checklists for pre-functional and functional testing.
Performance testing of building equipment.
Knowledge of building automation systems and HVAC controls
Knowledge of Testing and Balancing procedures, NEBB standards and methods a bonus.
Ability to complete detailed site visit reports, commissioning reports, Systems O&M Manual, and other commissioning- related documentation.
Degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering.
LEED, CEM, CBCP a plus
5+ years in the commissioning of building electrical and HVAC systems
Experience in NETA acceptance testing methods and procedures.
Ability to work in excel, word, a must.
