The Director, Strategic Pricing is responsible for creating the organization’s pricing strategies and market evaluations. The Director identifies target markets and customer trends to determine the market demand and to develop and implement pricing strategies for the organizations products and services based upon segmentation, economic and other market and industry trends.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Oversee and provide direction for developing pricing strategies. Deliver informed decisions on price points for products and services. Synthesize internal and external sources of information to build recommendations for base pricing, incentive and discounts programs and new product offerings. Assist in creating promotional campaigns and measurement of customer satisfaction based on cost.

  • Identify target markets, market segments and market trends to determine pricing sensitivities and strategies.

  • Partner in organization’s market research for new product or service ideas.

  • Partner with leaders across the business to design an aligned set of strategies, tactics and resources that achieve corporate objectives

  • Provide insight and support to company leadership regarding pricing decisions and the development of new offerings (products, solutions or services).

  • Partner in launch planning for new offerings that incorporates products, solutions, services and pricing where applicable.

  • Participate with Sales team in major contract negotiations, proposal development and bids process.

  • Coordinate insights with colleagues in sales, product management and marketing to build pricing models.

  • Formalize processes, measurement tools and reporting structure to support the execution of pricing strategy and portfolio marketing team’s goals. Monitor the results of pricing decisions by evaluating performance and communicating regularly with the sales team. Revise pricing decisions if necessary.

  • Maintain detailed records for products to evaluate future market trends and inform future pricing decisions.

Education / Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in economics, business, accounting, finance or related field

  • MBA strongly preferred

Basic Qualifications

  • Ten years of professional b-to-b experience motivating and leading a diverse and distributed team; global experience is a plus

  • Five to 10 years of advanced experience with product line or business unit management strongly preferred

  • Formal leadership experience overseeing pricing including evaluating productions costs to develop pricing strategies, understanding the pricing impact on profit margins, developing and defining pricing structures

  • Demonstrated success influencing C-level executives and cross-functional leaders

  • Analytical, evaluative and data-driven mindset

  • Strong business acumen, cross-functional leader, goal oriented, strong decision maker, highly collaborative, able to work in a matrix environment.

  • Ability to navigate culture and politics across multiple functions to establish buy-in for go-to-market strategy

  • People management, including the ability to build and grow a team, work with diverse skill sets and backgrounds and lead in a matrixed environment

  • Strong administrative and management skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple projects, programs and objectives

  • Ability to translate quantitative data into actionable recommendations

  • Critical thinking and capacity for original thought

  • Ability to listen and interpret needs

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Financial analysis; expertise in all aspects of go-to-market strategy for products, solutions, industries and services

  • Comprehensive insight into the operational side of offering delivery

  • Sales enablement requirements across a portfolio of offerings
