Position Summary

A dedicated team within Carrier Research & Development is being formed to drive early stage technology programs with a specific focus on impacting the Carrier Fire and Security businesses. The candidate would lead the security systems advanced development team within this newly formed organization. The candidate would partner with FSP security business units globally to develop a technology roadmap and program portfolio and transition technology suitable for the launch of new product development programs.

Key Job Responsibilities:

The candidate will identify, evaluate and mature technology for security businesses within Carrier Fire and Security Products. Technology areas to include innovation impacting: access control policy management, frictionless/seamless access, intrusion sensors, sales and commissioning tools, protocol development, mesh networks, novel mechanical designs. She / he will be a key member of the core corporate technology team who will work closely with our business units, manufacturing support and quality organizations.

Establish the new organization and lead projects that directly tie into new product program launches by de-risking early stage technology

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Strong technical, communication and organization skills

  • Demonstrated ability to drive technology R&D projects with off-ramps to product development programs

  • Ability to identify potential ‘disruptive’ technologies and develop programs to address associated business risks

  • Practical understanding of security and access control systems.

  • Experience to estimate technology and product development timelines and costs.

  • Experience with developing multi-year technical roadmaps with links to business strategy. Development of Intellectual Property strategies. Experience writing and obtaining patents.

  • Ability to work and prioritize multiple projects at the same time.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools such as PowerPoint, Excel.

  • Familiarity with Fire and Security Products business a plus.

Education:

  • MS in Electrical or Systems Engineering with a focus on Security, Access Control, Cyber Physical Systems with a minimum 7 years’ experience or PhD with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.
