Job Purpose:

Engineering Design & Documentation Support Role

Scope:

Provide accurate technical documentation to support all new parts designed and manufactured at WASP. Ensure all documents required are to the standard required by the certification authorities such as ‘aircraft manufacturers’ qualification standards, e.g. D6-36640, ABD0100.1x, etc. and any other related standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Control of projects and documents designated by the Engineering Manager, Lead Certification Engineer or Certification Project Coordinator from initial conception through to document acceptance to agreed timescales

  • Liaising with the Engineers to obtain the relevant information to provide documentation to agreed time scales

  • Revision of documentation in line with review comments from customers and certification authorities until documentation is accepted

  • Liaise with customers throughout the documentation process to ensure conformance to specification

  • Liaise with all relevant departments throughout the project cycle to ensure a smooth and efficient introduction

  • Keep the Lead Certification Engineer and Certification Project Coordinator informed of document progress and of any problems internally or externally

  • Provide technical documentation for each design for reliability and testing purposes

  • Provide technical support for all projects throughout the product life

  • Observe all document and data control protocols

  • Follow defined process, procedures and specifications

  • Ensure safety regulations are met

  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Engineering Manager

Key Skills / Experience

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines

  • Ability to work with limited information and track down missing parts

  • Ability to work on own initiative

  • Meticulous attention to detail is essential

  • An excellent understanding of an Engineering Office Environment

  • An excellent understanding on aircraft manufacturers’ qualification standards and related standards

  • Must be computer literate: Microsoft Excel, Access

  • Must be highly proficient: Microsoft Word

Qualifications:

  • Degree ideally or HNC / HND minimum in a suitable subject

  • Minimum 5 years related experience, appropriate education, training and skills to compliment an Certification Author role
