We are currently searching for a Principal Programme Manager to join our team in Khamis Mushait, Saudi Arabia on a 12 month fixed term basis.

Role Overview:

This position is for a senior professional with deep knowledge and highly developed technical expertise in Programme Management, who leads medium-sized programmes. The position holder will be capable of developing programme plans, schedules, and budgets, as well as supporting strategic planning efforts. The position will be need to develop solutions for programme problems, prepare for and lead contract negotiations and manage important vendors. This position will also act as the senior company representative at a customer site, where our team are embedded with the customer providing training and support services.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leads medium size programmes to ensure adherence to programme plans, schedules and budgets for programmes under his/her responsibility and recommends appropriate adjustments.

  • Manages important vendors and develops milestones, programme plans, schedules and budgets for programmes.

  • Consolidates and presents plans and progress reports.

  • Prepares and presents value-stream strategy, progress, and results.

  • Supports annual strategic planning efforts for the business.

  • Guides continuous improvement initiatives to optimize efficiency and quality.

  • Identifies and reacts to programme problems and supports solutions, such as allocation of resources and changing contractual specifications.

  • Plays a pivotal role in the capture of follow-on business growth strategies.

  • Coordinates responses to customer action items.

  • Supervises the appropriate use of all resources allocated to the programme to ensure efficient use of resources.

  • Participates in and leads the negotiation of contracts and contractual changes, including coordinating preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements, operational budgets, specifications, and financial conditions of contracts to ensure legal compliance and to protect the organization’s interests.

  • Directs all programme phases from inception through completion.

  • Interfaces with customers for project specifications to ensure successful completion.

  • Manages the contract lifecycle, cost, schedule and performance of company programmes or subsystems of major programmes.

  • Coordinates the negotiation, proposals, business plans, budgets and contracts for programmes.

  • Establishes cost focused performance targets and directs work to achieve these targets.

  • Identifies, plans and manages risks and opportunities, including maintaining a risk register and leading regular risk reviews with all affected shared services.

  • Experienced in the use and application of Earned Value Management techniques, to support the analysis of Programme(s) that him/her are leading.

  • Has a comprehensive understanding of Schedule Risk Analysis to support programme execution strategies.

  • Demonstrates an understanding of the social, political, legal and economic trends. Makes the connection to how these trends impact the business and adjusts strategies appropriately.

  • Actively builds connections and strategic partnerships with others across functional, cultural, organizational, and global boundaries.

  • Applies critical thinking to customer interactions, in an effort to develop the best value proposition for the customer.

  • Delivers consistent results and develops strategic initiatives for the future.

  • Ability to engage a team around a shared vision and strategy, can articulate complex messages simply.


Basic Qualifications:

  • The candidate should have a relevant degree qualification, or a sufficient level of relevant experience in Programme Management and hold a formally endorsed Programme Qualification (e.g. APM, PMI, PRINCE2).

  • A relevant Clearance, such as SC Clearance in the UK, in order to be able to access data up to SECRET.

  • Experience of overseeing the delivery of training delivery and leading the support/maintenance phase of the programme lifecycle.

  • Experience of working in the Middle East.

  • Experience of working in a Matrix organisation, including indirect leadership of shared services.

  • IT proficiency, in Microsoft Office, Google and Atlassian toolsets.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Arabic language skills would be desirable.

  • Experience of Air Land Integration programmes
