Our Lenexa facility designs and manufactures Galley Inserts Beverage Maker Products for commercial, military and private business jet aircrafts. Our Beverage Maker team delivers weight efficient beverage maker solutions within a revolutionary line of premium galley inserts that provide easy-to-use features. As a segment of B/E’s integrated aviation galley-appliance solution division, our mission is to provide superior products, services and support that enable our customers to deliver the world’s best in-flight beverage service.
As a leader in the aerospace industry, we are growing rapidly and have a number of exciting positions available right now, including a Buyer in our Oxygen & PSU Systems business located in Lenexa, Kansas .
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Buyer for the Oxygen & PSU Systems business in Lenexa, comprehensively manages Commodities such as merchandise, raw materials, components, sub-assemblies, equipment, and/or services to support Production Operations.
Purchases materials, parts, supplies, and equipment following established purchasing policies and procedures, driving the optimization of price, delivery, and terms; typically purchases $3-5 million per year; does not become heavily involved in the development of specifications or Suppliers, but the work is more complex than buying off-the-shelf items. Items are typically build-to-print items, often involving old, complex, or obsolete designs, sole or single source technology, or items such as machined parts that include many sequential fabrication steps throughout the process.
Owns the Performance of assigned suppliers, particularly Delivery, Cost and Capacity/Recovery (to MRP health) Schedule performance, including the diagnosis and escalation of issues impacting production in these areas; Supplier Quality resources are in place to heavily assist with these types of Supplier deficiencies, but Buyer support is needed often.
Reviews, approves and issues purchase requisitions; follows up and expedites as necessary.
Works cross-functionally, especially with Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, Quality Engineering, Materials, Receiving, Inspection, Operations, Finance, Customer Service, & Production Planning to coordinate purchase timing, quantities, pricing, and goods delivery/storage, in support of business goals around output, efficiency, and cost of inventory.
Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
Performs other related duties as required.
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year College or university; or equivalent combination of experience & education
Two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a manufacturing environment
Experience with MRP / ERP systems
Knowledge of Bill of Materials (BOM) structure
Ability to read technical drawings and identify material call-outs
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
Experience in Aerospace or Defense procurement
Understanding of and participation in the AS9100 Quality Requirements
Experience working with JD Edwards or E1 Systems
Prior track record of success in achieving significant improvements to the Supply Chain Organization thru drafting and implementing Cost Savings, LT Reductions, Contracting, Quality improvement, Delivery improvement, or Supply Security Planning projects with Supplier Partners
Prior track record of adhering consistently to Standard Work, and developing personal cadences in support of that standard work, all within the bounds of Procurement Policies, Procedures, and Best Operating Practices
Experience with Continuous Improvement of Procurement Team processes and methods
