Role: Business Development Manager (Sales)

Purpose of the Role:

The successful candidate will be part of the Business Development Team working closely with Software and Systems Engineering, International Trade Compliance, Financial and Programme Management teams. You will be required to not only identify potential awards but play a key part in bringing your opportunities to a close. In addition, you will be required to develop working relationships with a wide range military and civilian customers and with our partners from industry. You will also be able to identify and manage collaboration opportunities with other ISR businesses. The role will primarily be based in Malvern, Worcestershire however approx. 25-30% of UK and Overseas travel will be required.

Principle Duties / Responsibilities:

The achievement of sales and margin targets: 

  • Identify new sales opportunities, promote, market and sell SCi Toolset solutions to civil and military (ISR) customers.

  • Present and demonstrate the core functionality and benefits of the SCi Toolset to a wide customer base.

  • Attend UK and international trade shows to promote the SCi Toolset with the intention of gaining new leads and contacts.

  • Keep abreast of market and competitor activity, providing ongoing feedback and advice to the Malvern Business Development Director and Management team. 

  • Be a key member of our Business Development team in moving from legacy military sales to identifying and pursuing adjacent market opportunities.

  • Interface with the key teams such as Product Development, Programme Management, Integrated Logistics Support, Engineering and Finance - sharing market intelligence and potential for sales opportunities. 

  • Actively and successfully manage the generation of leads, sales process solution pitch, tender generation, negotiation and close ensuring a smooth handover to Programme team on award. 

  • Support the Leadership team in evolving a long term product strategy.

Requirements:

Personal Qualities: 

  • Highly motivated, and driven individual who is capable of delivering increased sales awards. 

  • Customer relationship management with strong communication and negotiating skills and the ability to influence across organisations (internal and external). 

  • Have an ability to people skills with a desire to sell. 

  • An ability to solve problems with experience and proven track record in decision making.  High levels of drive and energy and acute attention to detail.

Desirable Skills & Experience: 

  • Proven experience in data management, sales and pipeline development with strong evidence of a customer-facing approach. 

  • A broad understanding of the military Intelligence Cycle and government procurement and budgeting processes. 

  • A proven ability to work on your own initiative in finding and pursuing customer leads. 

  • An ability to communicate clearly and succinctly to management and customers. 

  • Have shown you are an experienced team member who is capable of operating in a highly dynamic business environment as part of a growing and diversifying enterprise. 

  • Have already proven your flexibility and ability to work on your own initiative in your past roles. 
