Role: Programme Manager

Purpose of the Role:

  • Collins ISR Systems UK is seeking a pro-active and committed Programme Manager (no line management required) who will report to the Head of Programmes at Malvern and undertake programmatic work managing multiple programmes. The role will involve overseas travel in particular to the Middle-East and the US (approx. 30%) and will require someone with strong customer relationship skills. Your responsibilities and duties will include, but not be restricted to:Manage programmes to achieve:

  • Contractual obligations

  • Excellent customer satisfaction

  • Deliver contracted (or ahead of) schedule and achieve as contracted (or improved) margin

  • Accurate forecasting, consistent delivery performance, maintain programme metrics.

Principle Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Application of appropriate project governance in-line with the Malvern AS9100D Quality Management System

  • Leadership of the cross functional team working on the programme

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with senior customers

  • Effective management of external and internal stakeholders

  • Generating accurate work load forecasts to support resource planning within the business and functions

  • Developing and maintaining key project documents including Project Management Plan, Risk Register and Project Reporting Pack

  • Effective communication to internal stakeholders of project progress, risks and timely escalation of project issues

  • Bid management: responsible for coordinating and submitting a completed bid to an existing or prospective client, on time and within budget. Work closely with a core team while bringing in subject matter experts when required

  • Responsible for identifying, and pursuing to closure, follow on sales opportunities.

Delivery of standard or complex programmes that:

  • Will have a significant impact to delivery of the Malvern International Business Plan and to the financial performance of the Malvern Collins Aerospace site

  • Includes a mix of standard and complex projects and programmes with critical interdependencies

  • Have a large multi-disciplinary project team at Malvern and commissioning activities that could occur across multiple locations overseas

  • Have tight timescales and/or challenging budgets

Personal Qualities:

  • Strong experience of managing customer engagement

  • Self-motivated individual

  • Excellent communication skills are essential, especially around customer liaison

  • Excellent presentation skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and strong negotiation skills

  • Ability to convey a level of confidence and professionalism, positively influencing others

  • Be able to demonstrate good listening skills

  • Be able to work within a team of experienced Programme Managers

Requirements:

Key attributes of the successful candidate will include:

The ability to work well under pressure, in a team, and integrate into existing team structures, and be ethical, proactive, adaptable, accountable, flexible and confident.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Project Management competence equivalent to IPMA level C

  • At least three years project management experience

  • Good understanding of the IT project lifecycle and its relationship to project management

  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum/Kanban processes and techniques

  • Association of Project Management (APM) qualification or equivalent

  • Previous demonstrable experience of delivering programmes within Aerospace or Defence domains desirable

  • Degree qualified or equivalent.
