The CNS Surveillance Department in Melbourne, Florida is seeking to fill an Electrical / FPGA Engineering Position within the Traffic group. This role is for an experienced Electrical and Electronics Engineering professional, working with a small group of other FPGA Engineers. The position will support FPGA development, requirements writing, verification, and the performance of test procedures. The engineer must have knowledge of the principles and techniques commonly used in FPGA development and qualification related to commercial avionics. This position is for the TCAS new product development effort, and may occasionally encompass product sustaining support roles, as well.
Follow DO-254 program planning documentation, and ensure CPLD/FPGA design adheres to the plans
Requirements capture, definition, validation, and verification of implementation
Develop and document FPGA derived requirements
Design FPGA architectural diagrams, develop VHDL to implement the design critical functionality
Develop sub-functions and test benches
Perform engineering timing simulations and functional analysis
Ensure execution to schedule and budget
Creation and review of engineering documentation
Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems and networks to ensure that required specifications are met.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.
Experience with writing requirements
Experience with Actel, Xilinx, FPGAs and development tools
FPGA lab integration and troubleshooting knowledge
Hardware Verification experience including, test procedure development, robustness testing & debug
Experience with hardware configuration management and problem reporting tools
Excellent written and verbal skills
Capturing detailed FPGA requirements datasets from allocated system level requirements, including decomposition and derivation
Implementing FGPA requirements into FPGA Architecture diagrams and a detail design in VHDL
Writing requirements based tests to verify detail design
Proficiency with managing requirements in JAMA
Experience working with Air Transport OEM’s on developmental projects
Experience in RTL coding (VHDL/Verilog)
Familiarity with the signal processing system simulation & analysis tools (e.g. Matlab, Simulink)
Familiarity with revision control concepts and tools (e.g. JIRA, GIT, Subversion)
