Role Overview

Established professional in Manufacturing Engineering. Designs the arrangement of machines and sequence of operations, and checks that mandatory modifications are incorporated to ensure legal compliance.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Propose the sequence of operations and develop test instructions based upon approved technical data

  • Establish/monitor standard work procedures within the manufacturing assembly line

  • Design fixtures and purchase equipment as necessary to assemble products

  • Identify opportunities for continuous cost and quality improvements for parts and assembly processes.

  • Work closely with department supervisors/managers on a wide variety of activities to include capacity issues, process improvements, tooling, etc

  • Maintain complete technical oversight of day-to-day operations

  • Lead/participate in the Corrective Actions Process and provide root cause analysis/corrective actions

  • Maintain and update work instructions, test procedures and fixtures as required by Engineering changes and continuous improvement activities

  • Interface with Design Engineering on issues related to manufacturability and participate on Integrated Product Development teams as required

  • Establish creative and economic manufacturing solutions and processes that are applicable to statistical process control to ensure compliance and effective production

  • Lead activities to include training of department personnel and foster a lean culture through continuous coaching of team members

  • Must be able to review drawings and concepts and resolve assembly concerns.

  • Ensure quality product utilizing quality procedures

  • Audit work area for safety compliance

  • Present to senior management on various topics, be involved with, and implement additional initiatives such as ACE, Process Certification, Manufacturing Process Reviews, Lean Manufacturing and EH&S projects

  • Design arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout

  • Troubleshoot and solve production process problems with processes or equipment already in operation

  • Adhere to all UTAS rules and codes of conduct

  • Perform other duties as required

Basic Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 7 years of relevant experience is required.
