Function Description Creates the long-range strategy for Carrier Fire & Security Products including analyzing the internal and external environment for financial growth opportunities. Leads strategic planning process (Long Range Plan) every year, share of segment analyses, macro, industry and competitive trends analyses. Utilizes financial and market analysis as a key tool to drive strategy, both organic and inorganic growth, M&A, & divestiture decisions.
Discipline Description Responsible for developing multi-year strategy across all functions, geographies, product lines and brands. Including (but not limited to) regular portfolio analysis, identification of “big bets” that really move the needle for value creation (both organic and inorganic), targeted projects to resolve strategic questions, organizational transformation, etc. Responsible also for the deployment, implementation & execution of key strategies that are prioritized at the enterprise level. Responsible for developing analyses for external communication on FSP as a reported segment, e.g., market and industry drivers, regulatory changes, competitive benchmarking, innovation and customer trends.
Organization Level Description Owns the execution of long-term strategy (e.g., more than 3 years) and operational direction, for the entire global FSP business ($3.5 Billion)
Problems faced are often complex and require extensive investigation and analysis.
Requires ability to influence up, down and across a global organization, cross-functional, to accept practices and approaches, and ability to communicate and influence senior executive leadership.
Purpose This position manages directly and indirectly regional and central talent across the globe, sets strategic goals and long-term objectives for developing the organization's strategic vision and establishing a customer network, and consults with executive leadership team to drive strategy. This position will often lead cross-functional, cross-geographic teams to deploy strategy in targeted areas.
Responsibility Statements Establishes and directs implementation of strategy to drive implementation of initiatives, financial growth opportunities and business development efforts. Manages network of relationships with key current and potential internal and sometimes external customers to achieve shared goals and lead customer relations management. Consults with the executive leadership team to drive strategy and partnership decisions. Guides coordination with marketing, sales, and technology groups to implement business development strategy.
Education and Requirements
Undergraduate degree in a relevant technical, engineering or business
Post-graduate degree in marketing, business, engineering or finance (MBA a plus)
Minimum 10 years’ professional experience including senior leadership positions
Strong track record of consistent career progression and advancement
