Duties and Responsibilities:
The Payroll Tax and Accounting Manager is a US based role and reports to the Associate Director of Payroll Accounting and Tax. This position is responsible for the oversight / governance of the US employment tax compliance portfolio within the Global Payroll organization. This portfolio includes direct oversight of execution of employment tax compliance within the Americas and supporting execution in Asia-Pacific and EMEA with regional counterparts. The candidate will have interaction with all Carrier business units and third-party vendors.
Design and develop a global employment tax policy and framework as part of Carrier Payroll to ensure local, regional and global compliance. Partner with global payroll, accounting and regional shared services to implement and sustain the framework. Design and maintain employment tax policies in conjunction with US and global payroll and accounting policies. Partner with Corporate Tax, Legal, Payroll and Accounting to ensure streamlined and compliant tax operations, including shadow payroll. Provide support and training to the global payroll organization to eliminate risk of non-compliance with local work authorizations and tax laws. Develop and manage a communication strategy to assure smooth implementation of policies and initiatives. Act a point of contact for all employment tax inquiries, external audits and M&A activity, coordinating with external resources as needed. Manage global relationship with external tax service and global payroll providers and facilitate engagement of external advisors where appropriate. Support new and existing technology platforms, including input into future requirements and testing new platforms.
Education: BS in Accounting required. An advance tax or law degree is a plus.
Experience: Minimum of five years of employment tax experience (combination of public and private) Experience with Payroll Tax related audits
