This position is for an Experienced professional with deep knowledge and highly developed technical expertise in Supply Chain Management. May mange moderately sized projects for supply chain management. Works to achieve day-to-day objectives with significant impact on Supply Chain strategies and operational goals. Responsible for making significant improvements to supply chain management processes and systems. Works to influence other functions/vendors to support Supply Chain strategy.
This position is for a lead professional in Supply Chain performance. This individual will lead a team with a focus on driving supplier performance and supply chain metric improvement. The individual will work with supplier management and a Collin’s team to develop and execute plans to improve a supplier’s performance (delivery, quality, etc). This will include part expediting, line of balance (LOB), work in process (WIP) tracking and, may include MRP set-up, part planning, etc. The person will collaborate with management inside Collins and at the supplier to develop actions and coordinate activities needed to ensure delivery of quality parts occurs per schedule. This will include resolution of risks/obstacles, regardless of origin to ensure manufacturing, supply chain, and delivery schedules are in alignment with customer needs. Communication will frequently involve senior management in multiple organizations. The position will report to Supplier Performance group manager.
Tasks may include but are not limited to:
Establish partnerships at all levels within the supplier, emphasizing: collaboration, clear expectations, common goals, trust and transparency
Work with suppliers to improve supplier delivery commits in order to achieve improved delivery to operations.
Work with suppliers to provide Line of Balance for critical deliveries, and WIP trackers as needed to support deliveries and part recovery with escalation as needed
Work with Operations / Procurement to understand critical part impact and status at supplier
Expedite critical parts out of suppliers
Communicate critical parts status using LOB and WIP Tracker to Operations and leadership
Identify drivers of late deliveries, and communicate systemic issues to Supplier Development team members. Document and track actions to closure.
Follow up on actions to close gaps affecting delivery
Drive delivery improvement plans such as overdue reduction, and buffer compliance
Work with suppliers to create actions that will address gaps identified
Work with supplier to expedite at sub-tiers as needed
Brief Supplier Performance and BU leadership of progress on critical part status
Work with BU to eliminate risks and roadblocks such us outstanding engineering documentation, first article approvals, quality notices, engineering change requests, etc. that prevent supplier from meeting performance targets, and escalate as needed
Participate in or lead process improvement projects to improve supplier performance
Implement programs for supplier performance management and supply base optimization.
Partner with suppliers to lead continuous improvement, problem solving, waste elimination, and other value-enhancing opportunities.
Drive business process improvements between Collins and the suppliers.
Support Commodity team negotiations.
Support the relationship management of Strategic Partners and Preferred suppliers.
Work with Commodity Managers and Design/Project Engineers to coordinate sourcing strategies and ensure a smooth and timely manufacturing ramp-up on new programs.
Ensure appropriate risk mitigation activities are completed in a timely fashion
Minimum 5 years of experience in Supply Chain/Procurement/Purchasing
MRP system experience
General knowledge of Supply Chain Management practices as well as procurement systems.
Experience leading teams
Strong understanding of Continuous Improvement (CI)
Bachelor’s Degree (Supply Chain, Business related field or, Technical preferred)
Previous project management experience
