Collins Aerospace has an opening for a Program Chief Engineer for the HUMS and general actuation product lines in the Sensors & Integrated Systems business unit. As part of the program chief engineer team, you will be involved in leading a large portfolio of projects and ensuring all requirements are met and deliverables meet or exceed the customer expectations. The program chief is the primary technical interface to the customer and has primary accountability for meeting technical requirements and scope for the program including cost and schedule. The program directs technical system-level trade studies, has design authority approval, and liaises with program management and IPT leads to assure technical goals are achieved.
The program chief acts as the technical point of contact to the program, customer, partners and regulatory agencies.
The person in this program chief role is accountable to resolve technical conflicts and issues, and to ensure the development and maintenance of technical risk analysis methods and gap closure plans.
The program chief engineer is accountable for performance of the engineering team to plan, including technical, quality, schedule and cost aspects.
Technology development, engineering development, new product introduction, transition to production, sustainment engineering, obsolescence, REACh, field support, business development are activities that the Program Chief Engineer engages in, leads or has oversight of.
Work with the Product Line Management (PLM) IPt to define and drive product line roadmaps and ensure efficient execution to meet customer needs.
Accountable for providing technical direction to a single or multiple integrated project/product line teams to execute product line plans.
Develop and grow customer relationships
Develop and grow relationships across Collins Aerospace business units; identify and exploit opportunities for synergies
Primary customer technical interface for the product family.
Supports and co-leads product line strategy development and technology roadmapping events
Overall technical leader and authority to the program, customer, partners and regulatory agencies
Ensures the development and management of technical risks and develops and executes mitigation plans
Requirements management, systems integration and verification oversight
Drives overall technical execution of projects in the portfolio under his/her leadership to ensure all program requirements and objectives are met on schedule and within the authorized budget
Identify opportunities and develop solutions and define future developments to improve products and develop new products
Ensure compliance with international trade compliance polices and procedures
Ensures the protection of Collins Aerospace and safeguard of customer and supplier/partner intellectual property
Minimum of 10+ years of experience in design, integration and analysis of avionic products and systems
Advanced degree preferred
Rotorcraft and/or aircraft systems knowledge preferred
Systems engineering, development, integration, verification and validation and deployment experience
Software engineering, development and integration experience
Experience running multiple complex projects that include teams from multiple locations and countries
Use of data analysis techniques to predict failure; Interpreting real time data to determine vehicle health
Working with advanced data analysis software
Proposal writing and BOE experience
Earned value management understanding and familiarity preferred
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate complex analysis with clarity and precision. Gravitas and executive presence to present ideas and status to customers and other stakeholders.
Strong customer and internal stakeholder relationship skills. Ability to work across the organization and various disciplines, including Engineering, Quality and Operations.
Ability to influence and engage effectively with all levels of the organization, suppliers and customers
Project management and performance measurement and tracking methods and tools
Ability to lead others to develop innovative solutions to problems
Results-oriented and motivated to provide solutions with measurable benefit to our customer and business
Strategic thinker with a bias for action
Self-starter and initiative taker who can think outside the box
Excellent technical problem solving skills, strong analytical skills
Experience with working in a dynamic, diverse team environment. Ability to work with geographically dispersed team
Must be a U.S. citizen
